Gerhard Pfaff (40), Founding Director and Dealer Principal.

Gerhard has been trading successfully with agricultural futures and options since the beginning of the Agricultural Markets Division on SAFEX in 1995. In 2003 he co-founded Degro Commodities. Prior to that Gerhard had worked for WJ Morgan and RMD Financial Services respectively. Gerhard was instrumental in the formation of Degro International in June 2008 and was retained as the Chief Executive of the joint operation. He still remains in charge of the futures and options trading. Gerhard is a BLC Law student and a qualified agricultural derivatives trader

Rory Bezuidenhout (35), Founding Director and Commodity Trader

Rory started his career in 1994 as a commodity trader in Zimbabwe where he became Managing Director of CropLink until 2000. During that period, he also served on the Board of Directors of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Commodities Exchange. In 2003 he co-founded Degro Commodities. Rory oversees the smooth delivery of products and services in the physical market and serves as the company’s compliance officer for settlements in the derivatives market. With our expansion in the rest of Southern Africa, Rory is increasingly involved with cross-border trades in the physical market. Rory holds a B.Com degree in Finance and Economics and is a qualified agricultural derivatives trader

Ulrike Oberholzer, Finance Manager.

Qualifications: B.Compt Accounting. Busy with B.Compt (Hons) CTA

Ulrike recently joined the Group to head up the fast-growing accounting division. Previously she was working for an auditing firm and has more than five years of industry experience. Her responsibilities include the implementation of the new accounting system across all subsidiaries of the group. Ulrike is a dedicated individual with outstanding leadership abilities and we are glad to have her on board.

Tanell van Zyl, Accountant

Tanell van Zyl started her financial services career in 1998 when she became Assistant to the Portfolio Manager at Citadel Unit Trusts. She entered the agribusiness arena in October 2000 when she joined Grainvest Futures as Logistics Manager. This position gave her much-needed exposure to agricultural markets, transport logistics, and grain merchandising. Tanell joined Degro Commodities in May 2005 as Bookkeeper and moved up through the ranks to become the head of Accounting Department. She is senior office manager and sits on the Management Committee.

Coenie Joubert (37), Grain Merchandiser

Coenie started grain trading in 1999, first with Louna Marketing and then with Unitrade 826, before he joined Degro Commodities in 2007. Coenie is active in the physical grain market both locally and in neighbouring countries.

Linnet has been working in the logistics field since August 2008. She started het logistics career at Grainvest Physicals and has been working at Degro International since February 2009 as a logistics Co-ordinator. She manages her own portfolio of cross-border logistics for the export market.

Salome Le Roux, Logistics/Admin

Salomie has been Logistics Co-ordinator since May 2008. She ensures timely arrangement of transport logistics for the export market within the sub-region. This requires her to interact with clients, transporters and cross-border clearing agents on a daily basis.

Nick Kind, Trainee Commodity Trader

Nick started working for Degro International at the beginning 2009. He is currently a Trainee Commodity Trader and is preparing for his SAFEX exams. Before he joined Degro, Nick was studying a B.Com (Marketing and Business Management) at Damelin.
